Four Nations
The continent of Isav is home to four nations, each boasting their unique cultures, inhabitants, and social structuring. Learning about them is a good investment for any trying to live here.
Lasah - Land of Lords
Lasah is a nation made up of five sovereign provinces, each ruled by a separate lord. A mountain range runs through it, separating it both down the middle, as well as from Taidal to the south. At the southern edge of this mountain range is the most powerful of the five provinces, Chal. This power comes from both the defense of the peaks, as well as the fact that the ruling lord there, Jarrell, is well-loved by his subjects.
Pavan - Militant SuperpowerTael, the powerful ruler of Pavan, resides here in his capital of Cear. While his nation boasts few natural defenses, any potential enemies still think thrice about laying siege to Pavan. Besides an enormously powerful army, the nation's navy has access to several strategic waterways. Perhaps the only thing keeping Pavan from attempting to conquer the whole of Isav is the fear of counterattack from Lasah. As such, the two nations are rivals, and certain to remain as such for the foreseeable future.
Caemin - Trader's HavenCaemin is the biggest of the four nations in terms of landmass, but it is not a military contender. No, rather, it is a mercantilenation. That is not to say, of course, that it has no army, but it is not nearly as powerful as the other nations. Then, there is no reason to attack Caemin in the first place - it is a safe haven for all, where biases are forgotten and replaced with one core urge; to buy, to sell, and to amass as much wealth as possible. Because of this, Caemin is by far the wealthiest of the four lands. It is ruled by a council of ten, each of the major trading cities having a male and a female representative.
Taidal - Plains of the Nomads
Last of the four, calling Taidal a nation may be a stretch. It has no government, nor should it. Its vast desert is called home by tribes of nomads, each with its own way of surviving. Attempting to document each one would take years.
Playing Carcael's Rise
Carcael's Rise is a bit different than most roleplays. It uses an experimental system, in which each player gets their own separate thread via the PM system. When characters come into contact with each other, they will both be brought into a new thread so that they can interact. I will be playing narrator and controlling the NPCs. I chose to use this new system because it provides many advantages, such as:

What?! I don't get to make my own character?? No, this is integral to the system. In theory, it will keep characters from being created that clash with the intended storyline and setting of the roleplay.
You haven't given us any story information! That's the cool part, actually. Your knowledge of Isav and the story actually depends on what your character knows. You'll receive more information along with your character.
This is in the Fantasy section, is there... Minor Spoilers.
Are there admins for this RP? Hi, I'm admin. Or Dungeon Master. Or narrator. You get the idea.
If you're in charge of everything, are you also in charge of what my character does? Yes and no. I have stats for each character and enemy, and will roll any significant actions. In practice, this will only have anything to do with points in the story that could go either way (i.e. attacks, dodges, lockpicking, eavesdropping, etc.). Of course, this means that for such actions, "I stab x" is not allowed. Instead, you would say "I stab at x," and I would do a roll in the background and determine what the effectiveness of your attempt was. Don't worry too much about it; if your character attempts something that would be a sure thing anyway, I won't bother rolling. If your character does something that should have been an attempt, I'll either correct you or treat it as an attempt. And no, you can't see any of the stats. You get to know as much about your character's capabilities as your character does.
Can my character die? Yes. If your character is trying to be Superman, it's not that unlikely either. If that happens, you'll be given a new character, but the dead must remain in their graves.
That should cover everything. Welcome to Isav.
- Prevention of metagaming (using out-of-character information to influence in-character actions).
- Easier story progression.
- Allowing everyone to RP at their own speed without either stalling the plot or being left behind.
- Other stuff, probably.
